All my adult life I have had an interest in health and wellbeing, wanting to both improve my own life and be able to help others.

Living in the Netherlands, a Western society with its idea of health being predominantly physical, I began my exploration by focusing on the physical body. I initially trained as a physiotherapist and was also interested in nutrition, physical exercise and natural medicine. In my search for a more holistic approach, I then trained as an osteopath. Here I learned to view and work with the body as one, as a totality. The mobility and function of every part of the body influences every other part of the body. I found the concept of the craniosacral rhythm particularly interesting. This rhythm can be felt as an expansion and retraction throughout the body and is the physical expression of the lifeforce, or Qi. It can guide the manual treatment of the mobility of all tissues in the body, so the lifeforce can flow in its most natural way, optimally nourishing the body and allowing the expression of the inherent health within the system. I loved working with people in this way and still do. There would often be amazing and surprising healing effects, but at the same time I knew the root causes of people’s problems were still not necessarily being addressed.  I realised I needed to look beyond the physical body and explore other factors in people’s lives which influence their body and lifeforce.

When I moved to New Zealand 13 years ago, I started learning the teachings of Yuan Tze and the REN XUE life cultivation system.  In REN XUE, I found what I had been searching for all along. This system is designed to work on and understand the relationship between all levels of life – balancing the body, improving the Qi condition, opening the heart and cultivating the mind. As these levels work constantly together, all of them need to be considered when working on the root cause of problems, so true health, happiness, wellbeing and growth can be achieved. This understanding and my dedicated practice of the Yuan Gong methods has significantly influenced my professional life as well as my personal life.

When my children were younger I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and I gratefully used the tools from the REN XUE system to work on my Qi condition and on all levels of life. My physical strength and energy levels gradually improved over the years and I regained good health. What’s more is my understanding of what it takes to live a healthy and happy life has improved and continues to grow. I have been doing the Yuan Gong teacher trainings for the last 5 years and am motivated to teach these methods, so more people can experience the benefits from doing this practice. It is so empowering and necessary for people to have the tools to work on their own lives.
