I was drawn to Qigong both for my professional development and for my own health care. I trained and worked in the Netherlands as a Physiotherapist, Osteopath and Craniosacral therapist. As I gained more understanding of the intricate connectedness of every part of the body, my approach became more holistic over the years. Through Craniosacral therapy I was introduced to the lifeforce or qi and the self-healing capacity of the body, which I found most fascinating.
Since moving to New Zealand in 2006, alongside the hands-on work, I have been studying, practicing and teaching Qigong (Yuan Gong). This was like the missing piece of the puzzle in my search for a holistic health care and wellbeing approach. This system is designed to understand and work on all levels of life – balancing the body, improving the qi condition, opening the heart and cultivating the mind. These aspects work constantly together, all of them need to be considered when working on the root cause of problems, so true health, happiness, wellbeing and growth can be achieved. This understanding and my dedicated practice of the Yuan Gong methods has significantly influenced my professional life as well as my personal life.
When my children were little, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, and I gratefully used the tools from the Ren Xue system to work on my qi condition and on all levels of life. My physical strength and energy levels have improved steadily over the years, and I now have good health and am no longer fatigued. What’s more is my understanding of what it takes to live a healthy and happy life has continued to grow. There is endless room for more growth. I am motivated to teach Yuan Gong and Ren Xue and share my learning, so more people can experience the benefits from doing this practice. It is so empowering and necessary for people to have the tools to work on their own lives.
